Geocache Description:

Come out with your canine caching companion and RUN WITH THE DOGS!!

  • LOCATION: The Rebecca Weitsman Memorial Dog Park at Hickories Park in Owego NY
  • DATE: Saturday December 5th, 2015
  • TIME: Starting at 8:30AM and lasting approximately ONE HOUR, wrapping up at 9:30AM

This event is just an informal get together at Owego's newest hot spot for canine rendezvous. We will meet outside the fenced area for some refreshments and geo-chat..........coffee and donuts, as well as doggie snacks will be provided! Being in the companonship of a canine is NOT REQUIRED to attend. If you do have the pleasure of being in the company of a dog or dogs, you can feel free to wander inside the run to check this classy place out and do a little butt sniffin' with the locals (well, maybe you better leave THAT to your dog)! I hear that this place is hoppin' on a Saturday morning too!

PLEASE be sure that your dog is up to date on rabies vaccination! This is state law and Hickories Park officials DO check that from time to time, so have proof with you just in case. Dogs must be leashed when outside of the fenced area. Also it goes without saying that you are expected to clean up after your dog(s) whether inside or outside of the fenced area.

There are several geocaches inside the park, and I will give attendees who ask the location of the final stage of our multicache right here at the dog park to save the run over to the initial waypoint. This event will be held RAIN OR SHINE.......or SNOW, so please come prepared for adverse weather conditions. The long range forecast appears to show a calm and still relatively mild pattern going out two weeks from now.......keep your fingers (and paws) crossed! There is a fairly nearby covered pavilion that I DID NOT reserve, but at this time of year would likely be available for our use if it is REALLY bad.

This event (our very first one) was a rousing success, and a good time was had by all......two leggers and four leggers alike! Thank you EVERYONE for coming, and we will do this again come summertime 2016!!
