Reuben Kennedy Gardner
Veteran of the Civil War
A newspaper article from the Tuscaloosa News by Marvin Harper and published September 12, 1971, provides a list of Civil War soldiers that are buried in the Old Dunn’s Creek Cemeteries. Reuben Kennedy Gardner was included on this list by Mr. Harper, who was a historian for the Tuscaloosa area, and recognized for his knowlege of local history.
The National Park Service listing of soldiers has several listings for “Gardner” soldiers with the first initial “R”; but confirmation that one is Reuben was not made. Similarity, the archives for the State of Alabama list a few “Gardner” men with the initial “R”; again confirmation that one was Reuben was not made.
