Geocache Description:

National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (aka. CKS Memorial Hall) was built  to commemorate President Chiang Kai-shek, who is the first president of ROC (Republic of China, aka. Taiwan) and opened to public on Apr. 5th 1980.

Here you can find both traditional Chinese gardens and also modern exhibition performing centers. It is not only good for a pleasant afternoon walk and also some excellent cultural shows/musicals at night.

CKS Memorial Hall is surrounded by white walls and blue tile roofed corridors and pavilions, which is easy to be recognized. On the walls you can find 26 different motifs of Chinese-styled latticed windows. See if you can count them all! As for the park comprises several gardens with artificial mountains and bridges which is common in Chinese-styled gardens. Walking through the paths, you can see people doing exercises or playing Chinese chess or musical instruments, and also various plantings such as cherry blossoms and osmanthus.

In addition to traditionally designed structures and setting of the gardens, almost every night, the 3 main buildings, CKS Memorial Hall, National Theater& Concert Hall (中正紀念堂&國家音樂廳&國家戲劇院) present extraordinary performances with great artists. You can choose from traditional Chinese drama to modern musicals. It is highly recommended to see one of the performances.
