Geocache Description:

The Quilt Block Series will be a series of 30 caches that are mostly on back roads in President Township.  Some of the roads are posted "No Winter Maintenance."  All of the hides should be quick finds and there are pull-offs close-by each cache.  There is not alot of traffic on these roads, but please be careful when caching with children.

RAIL FENCE

The Rail Fence is another of the easy beginner blocks.  Blocks are generally constructed of 3 equal width strips.  The beauty of the block appears when it is arranged.  Each set of 3 strips are twisted and turned to creat a continuing row of color diagonally moving down the quilt.  This resembles a split rail fence.

The Rail Fence is another of the blocks that is supposed to have been used to instruct slaves on the correct path to freedom.

Today's quilters have a myriad of options in buying fabrics.  Along with the traditional scraps and yardage, you have a variety of precuts like jelly rolls, lollipops, and layer cakes.
