Southerton Traditional Cache

This cache replaces a 7 part multi which has been archived due to not having been found for over a year. Parking is available at N50.42.555 W03.18.820. Cache placed with kind permission of the landowner. In view of the extensive tree cover you may need to widen your search.

The name SOUTHERTON is derived from ‘South of Town’, the town being Fen (Venn) Ottery about half a mile to the north. The hamlet of some 40 souls is clustered around Southerton House, a large Victorian/Edwardian establishment which included a coach house and stables; a dower house; walled garden; water tower and a squash court. The hydraulic ram which fed the tower, a Japanese garden (now derelict) and a number of other dwellings is still in working order. The hamlet is also home to the Southerton Stompers!
