Geocache Description:

This is approximately a 1.5 mile loop hike through Zemko Samwill Preserve in Salem; part of the Salem Land Trust. The property is on the edge of the Rattlesnake Ledges that mark the upheaval of land where two continents collided so many years ago. A beaver pond provides important habitat for amphibians and waterfowl. The maple/beech/hemlock forest is an uncommon tree community here in Salem. It is a nice peaceful walk with plenty for the kids to explore.

From the Salem roundabout, go north on 85 for 1.9 miles, right onto Rattlesnake Ledge Rd for .9 mile. Entrance and parking is on left along a dirt drive (across from the town landfill). Stage 1-take the red trail straight almost to the end. There you will find a micro container with the coordinates for stage 2. Stage 2 is on the yellow trail and will contain the coordinates for the final. The final stage is on the orange trail and it is a large lock+lock container. You will find a steep downhill on the orange hill so be careful on the slippery leaves.
