Geocache Description:

Take a stroll along the Nahoon Point Boardwalk to find this cache. A great place to sit and relax with a great view over the sea.

Bring your own pen.

This is the site at which human and animal trace fossil track-ways were discovered in 1964 by Bill Hartley and Rhett Kaiser. The sandstone at this site has been dated to an age of 124 000 years, using an optically stimulated luminescence dating technique, making the human fossil track-way discovered here one of the oldest on the planet.

The original sandstone slabs with the track-ways, discovered in 1964, which subsequently broke and fell away, can be seen at the East London Museum and an explanation of how they were formed can be viewed at the display. For further information visit our earth cache Footprints in the Sand GC4MEYN
