"Welcome to this Australian Scout Jamboree where 15,000 Scouts, from eighteen countries and all states of Australia, are camped together". This was the opening paragraph of a welcome by V. C. Fairfax, Jamboree Camp Chief, Australian Jamboree, Lansdowne Sydney, NSW.

The camp was officially opened by the Governor-General and Chief Scout of Australia Viscount Dunrossil. Prior to the opening ceremony a march-past by all Scouts was conducted in the main arena.

The first day was a "sizzler" with temperatures in the high 90's (>30deg C). Later on the inevitable Jamboree rain visited for a while, turning things a bit unpleasant.

The Lansdowne camp covered some 400 acres (161 hectares) and was bordered by the Hume Highway, Henry Lawson Drive and Prospect Creek. Members of the Australian Army built a bridge across Henry Lawson Drive for the safety of Scouts and visitors to the Jamboree crossing from the bus terminal. The Army also supplied more than 150,000 pounds ($317,000) of equipment for use at the Jamboree.

The caches is a micro container and is located within the picnic grounds of the Cataract Dam area. The cache contains a log only.
