Cumberland Mills Traditional Cache

This is another cache that is designed be easy enough for most geocachers who are starting out in the hobby. As I have said in prior caches, I am looking to place more caches here in Westbrook. Be careful of the wolf spiders in the spring, summer and fall. They are big.

Welcome to Cumberland Mills. At one time this area was the hub of international business in Southern Maine. Facing the water, to the right of the river is a nice mansion. This magnificent building used to serve the Mill as a guest house for paper barons who visited Westbrook to strike deals with the mill. At one time the mill across the street was the largest in the world employing 3,000 people at its height of production. Today it specializes in the production of specialty papers and files. This mill is also the home of an advanced research and development facility for the paper industry.
