Located on the valley floor of Wasdale's side valley, make sure you get the right Mosedale. In wet weather it's important to choose a river crossing-free route, ideally the Ritson's Force path via the old packhores bridge.
Leaving Wasdale Head by crossing the old packhorse bridge, you proceed along the lesser used side of Mosedale - (using Black Sail Pass involves a bridgeless river crossing). The path is faint in places and in wet weather has a few soggy areas which have to be crossed. The apparently featureless valley floor contains a few specific hiding places free from waterlogging. Once found you find yourself in a location which has been a draw for visitors for as long as Wasdale itself has been on the must - see list. In dry weather it is possible to head across to Black Sail Pass if you want a different return route to Wasdale Head or elsewhere.
