Oak Leaf Trail 12: Fenced Area Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Blue Crow Expedition: This geocache was always too hard to find during the summer when the brush was thick, and too easy to find in the winter. On the other hand, it held up well in all kinds of weather and 160 people found it during the time it was here.

Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series on the Oak Leaf Trail.

About the Container

You are looking for a small black container on a hanger. Some of the containers in the series have white numbers but this one doesn't because it would make the container too obvious to passersby. The container is too small to hold most travel bugs or trade items. Please bring your own pen.

About the Location

You do not need to go inside the fence or down the hill.

This old fence protects the area around a tunnel that runs under the trail. The tunnel doesn't go all the way through. It's open on the east side of the berm but not on the west side. It looks like the tunnel was originally to let water pass under the berm but then it was closed up on one side when the nearby apartment complex was built.

The fence is older than the rest of the improvements made along the trail in 2015. It must have been added to keep out kids, vagrants, and animals back when the tracks were still overgrown with trees.

About the Series

The cache is part of the Oak Leaf Trail series. For information about the whole series, including tips about how to plan your approach, please see the listing for Oak Leaf Trail 01.
