Die Kreiszahl π = 3.1415926535..., das Verhältnis zwischen dem Umfang und dem Durchmesser eines Kreises, ist die wohl berühmteste mathematische Konstante. In diesem Rätsel geht es darum, π zu "finden." Die angegebenen Koordinaten sind nur der Ausgangspunkt. Der Cache selbst versteckt sich in unmittelbarer Nähe der Koordinaten N 47° 22.ABC E 8° 33.DEF, wobei ABC und DEF die beiden dreistelligen Zahlen sind, deren Quotient ABC/DEF (das heisst ABC geteilt durch DEF) der Zahl π am nächsten kommt. Gibt es mehrere Lösungen, nimm die mit den kleinsten Zahlen!
Versuchst du zum Beispiel ABC = 022 und DEF = 007, so erhältst du ABC/DEF = 22/7 = 3.1428... , das ist auf zwei Nachkommastellen genau. Diese Näherung von π kannte schon Archimedes. Es geht aber viel genauer. Um die beste Näherung zu finden, kannst du zum Beispiel einfach alle Möglichkeiten für ABC und DEF durchprobieren, am besten mit Computerhilfe. Es gibt "nur" 1 Million Kombinationen. Bist du geschickter, kommst du mit maximal 1000 Kombinationen ans Ziel. Du kannst die Lösung aber auch googeln, wenn du weisst, wonach du fragen musst.

The circle number π = 3.1415926535..., the ratio between the circumference and the diameter of a circle, is arguably the most famous mathematical constant. This riddle is about "finding" π. The given coordinates are just the starting point. The cache itself is hiding in the adjacencies of coordinates N 47° 22.ABC E 8° 33.DEF, where ABC and DEF are the three-digit numbers whose quotient ABC/DEF (meaning ABC divided by DEF) is closest to the number π. If there are several solutions, take the one with the smallest numbers!
If you try for example ABC = 022 and DEF = 007, you get ABC/DEF = 22/7 = 3.1428… which is accurate to two digits after the decimal point. This approximation of π was already known to Archimedes. But it can be done much more accurately.
To find the best approximation, you can for example simply try all possibilities for ABC and DEF, preferably with the help of a computer. There are "only" 1 million combinations. If you are smarter, you can get away with at most 1000 combinations. But you can also google the solution if you know what to ask for.
