Geocache Description:

This is a replacement of 1 of the 21 caches published each day of the last days of the Mayan long count calendar, leading to the beginning of a new era.

During the time of the Mayas, the Mayan people built many pyramids throughout Central America. These pyramids served several purposes from burial grounds to temples and landmarks. Each pyramid was different. One of the shortest pyramid structures is in Aguateca. This pyramid was left unfinished at a height of 6 meters (20 feet) when the city was abandoned. One of the largest, La Danta in El Mirador comes to a height of 72 meters (236 feet). This impressive monument has almost been reclaimed by the forest it sits in.

Remember to write down the Maya number symbols found in the log book, or on the lid, that is needed to determine the coordinates of the final cache of this series. After conversion, ten are labeled N and are each a four-digit number. Ten are labeled W and are each a three-digit number. The final cache of this series, A New Era, provides the final numbers and instructions how to add to the prior twenty to determine its coordinates. This cache shares the same number as its previous incarnation.
