The korimako - bellbird, Anthornis melanura is a common bird, about the size of a large sparrow, found in the bush throughout New Zealand. Although its olive green colour makes it hard to see, its clear melodious song is distinctive. They are honey eaters, but will feed on berries and insects. Chicks are raised exclusively on insects.
When the cache was placed this track was still under construction. Despite what the sign says, it is a perfectly good track.
