Church of Christ the Redeemer The church was built in 1852 on the site of a wayside shrine dedicated to Christ the Redeemer erected in 1807 by a certain Mikelang Zammit who had escaped death when his cab overturned. Work on this church began in 1852 on the initiative of Rev Joseph Demicoli and was completed in 1859. Since then, this church enjoys great veneration from people all over the island.
