[CAT] He viscut a Vallcarca tota la meva vida, i ja fa uns quants anys. L'antiga Avinguda de l'Hospital Militar i el carrer Farigola han estat molt temps l'eix pel que girava la meva existència.
No només el nom del carrer ha canviat. Quan era adolescent es vivia com en un poble, amb tots el seus petits comerços un al costat de l'altre... fa temps que van tancar la gran majoria, i els que van resistir han caigut últimament per la pressió turística i s'han convertit en tendes on només pots trobar samarretes de Messi i magnets del Park Güell.
Però el més característic de la zona son els solars que pots trobar cada dos passes. Aquest espais buits sense funció son el resultat de un pla municipal que porta anys per definir-se i a l'esclat de la bombolla immobiliària que va deixar sense inversió totes les finques antigues que probablement planejaven transformar en pisos d'alt standing.
Durant molt temps van ser ocupades, i el barri era ple de 'perroflautes' i era casi impossible caminar sense trepitjar un 'regal' de gos.
Finalment totes aquestes cases van ser desallotjades i enderrocades, deixant el barri com es pot veure ara. El carrer està una mica més net, però no se que pensaran els turistes que passen a milers per anar al Park Güell.
El lloc on està el catxé, amb els seus tarongers i la font, era bastant popular entre els okupes i ara és bastant comú trobar encara algú prenent el sol, quan encara és agradable. A la banda dreta hi havia la carnisseria i a l'esquerra un bar que sempre l'havia pensat de mala reputació. Òbviament tots dos ja no existeixen.
Esperem a la sortida de la crisi per veure en què acaba transformant-se aquesta part de Vallcarca...
[ES] He vivido en Vallcarca toda mi vida, y ya hace unos cuantos años. La antigua Avenida del Hospital Militar y la calle Farigola han sido por mucho tiempo el eje por el que giraba mi existencia.
Ahora no solo el nombre de la calle ha cambiado. Cuando era adolescente se vivía como en un pueblo, con todas sus pequeñas tiendas puerta con puerta... ya hace tiempo que la mayoría cerraron y la que resistieron han caído últimamente ante la presión turística y se han convertido en lugares donde solo puedes comprar camisetas de Messi y magnets del Park Güell.
Sin embargo, lo más característico de la zona son los solares que puedes encontrar cada dos pasos. Estos espacios vacíos sin función son el resultado de un plan municipal que lleva años definiéndose y el estallido de la burbuja inmobiliaria, que dejó sin inversión a todas las fincas antiguas que probablemente habían planeado transformar en pisos de alto standing.
Durante mucho tiempo estuvieron ocupadas, y el barrio estaba lleno de 'perroflautas', y era casi imposible caminar sin pisar un 'regalito' de perro.
Finalmente todas estas casas fueron desalojadas y derruidas, dejando el barrio como lo podéis ver ahora. La calle está un poco más limpia, pero no sé qué pensarán los turistas que pasan a miles para ir al Park Güell.
El lugar donde está escondido el caché, con sus naranjos y su fuente, era bastante popular entre los okupas y aún es bastante común encontrar a alguien tomando el sol cuando todavía es agradable. Estaba flanqueado entre la carnicería y un bar que siempre había pensado de mala nota. Obviamente los dos ya no existen.
Esperemos a salir definitivamente de la crisis para ver en qué acaba transformándose esta parte de Vallcarca...
[EN] I have been living in Vallcarca all my life, and that’s quite some time. Former Hospital Militar Avenue and Farigola Street have been for long time the axis at which my life revolved.
Now not only the street name has changed. When I was a teenager, life here was like living in a small town, with all its tiny shops close together… almost all closed long ago, and those that resisted have fallen lately due to the touristic pressure and have been replaced by shops where you can only buy Messi shirts and Park Güell magnets.
Nowadays, though, the most remarkable trait are empty building plots that you can fins almost everywhere. Those empty spaces without utility are the aftermath of a city plan that is taking years to define and the collapse of the housing boom that left without prospect buyers all those top standing flats that they planned to replace the old buildings.
During quite some time they were squatted, and the neighbourhood was full of ‘perroflautas’, and was almost impossible to walk without treading on a dog ‘present’.
Finally all those houses were evicted and demolished, living the area as you can see it now. Certainly the streets are cleaner, but I am not sure what the flock of tourists that daily visit Park Güell thinks.
The spot where the cache is hidden, with its orange trees and a public fountain, was pretty popular among the squatters, and you will easily find someone basking in the sun. It was flanked by a butcher’s and a bar that I have always thought had bad reputation. Obviously both no longer exist.
Let’s see once the economy changes the transformation that awaits Vallcarca.
