Staunton Pound Traditional Cache

Staunton Pound is one of many animal pounds that you will find dotted around the countryside - it was originally built to replace one that was on the site of the village hall (which used to be the National school), it's purpose simply to hold stray grazing animals. When the owners of the animals came to collect their property they had to pay a fine for their release.

The cache

Placed as an easy find so that you don't need to linger too long in view of the houses the cache is a small micro with just a log inside - no pen. It has one of those pesky-to-get-out logs I'm afraid - sorry 'bout that! Having said that there are some seats here and a picnic bench too should you want to pause longer as it is a pleasant spot and there are nice views. Parking is roadside right next to the cache and pound.
