The original Bed Bugs cache was placed on 15th September, 2005 as part of the "Fun and Exciting Caching Activity" competition. In the competition, teams and their children were able to vote for the caches they liked best. Bed Bugs ended up winning that competition.
LEDs flashed for about half a second next to a bug, and cachers had to hit that bug while the LED was lit. If they managed to hit 20 within 60 seconds, they were presented with the final co-ordinates. If not, it went a little slower, and they tried again.

Bed Bugs in better days.
Unfortunately, over the years, time and weather have affected the device to the point where it barely worked. A couple of LEDs did not work, and only 3 bugs responded to a hit. After retrieving it and trying to fix it, it became obvious that nothing but a complete rework of the physical elements of the device would resurrect it. Apart from the program, which was fine, I would envisage many hours of work being required.
156 cachers have found it, so the decision was made that is was time to lay it to rest.

Bed Bugs is no more!
RIP Bed Bugs is a traditional cache taking you to the final location of the original cache. The contents and log book are also original.
