Geocache Description:

CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDS. Do not be alarmed if there is gun fire near the trails. There is a police outdoor practice range close to the area. All waypoints are close to the path and something put there by a person. There is a marker at the final and that is attached to something wooden, but not man made.

Coords tend to jump in this area. I have been to all waypoints multiple time and never more that twenty feet off. All coords were averaged from more that 150 readings, but I still get some jumping when I return to the point. but never in the same direction. USE THE WORK SHEET THAT IS IN THE GALLERY TO HELP YOU SOLVE THE PUZZLE WHEN YOU FIND THE TWO LETTER CODES.

This is an easy puzzle cache ending with a log to sign. Find the two letter codes at the waypoints, Stages 2 to 7 and then use them and a Letter / Number Caesar Shift as follows: if the two letter code is DA Solve for D with the expression ---- For D; A=6 which yields D=9 using a Letter / Number Caesar Shift with A= key of 6 (this is an example ONLY and will not work in the puzzle). Repeat the expression for each of the two letter combinations which will give you six numbers substituted for TED COB(B). TED is the last three numbers in the North Coord and COB(B) is the last three numbers in the West Coord. The "For", the semicolon, the =, and the number 6 are used with all the two letter codes.

When COUNTING CHARACTERS punctuation COUNTS, but spaces DO NOT(there was some concern some cachers were not getting the correct codes). First two letter code is at Stage 2. Find engraved plate and use the 35th character for the first letter and 17th character for the second letter. Second two letter code is at Stage 3. Find the engraved plate and use the 19th character for the first letter and the 12th character for the second. Third two letter code is at Stage 4. Find the engraved plate and use the 36th character for the first letter and the 10th letter for the second. Forth two letter code is at Stage 5. Find the engraved plate and use the 5th character for the first letter and the 25th character for the second. Fifth two letter code is at Stage 6. Find the engraved plate and use the 8th letter for the first letter and the 11th letter for the second. Sixth two letter code is at Stage 7. Find the engraved plate and use the 14th character for the first letter and the 57th character for the second.

Now a brief story about Ted:

A True Ted Story - I met Ted in 1980 and learned to love him well in the 35 years I interacted with him. This cache is to honor this great man, TED. Ted was a great teacher and you will need skills to find this cache that someone taught you. Ted was a born teacher who loved family, friends, the outdoors and helping everyone. Ted taught in the elementary level for years and retired in 2000 from the Fairport School District. Two of our children were formally taught there by Ted, but our third child and all of our grand children were taught life's lessons by Ted too. One of the best lessons was to have FUN. Our son was formally taught by Ted twice, he was Ted's last student teacher before Ted retired. Our son inherited years of accumulated classroom materials for his own career, including a bee hive we still have in our basement..

I do not know if Scouting fostered Ted's love of the outdoors or if Ted gravitated to Scouting because of it. In any case Ted embraced Scouting and became an Eagle Scout. This is where this cache got its start. Part of the qualifications for the Eagle Scout Badge is a community project. The Webster Trails Associations works hand in hand with the many BSA Troops to provide many opportunities for some of the Eagle Candidates to use their skills to help the many people who enjoy the trails to do it easier. As it happened Ted's last time to help was on an Eagle Scout Project in Four Mile Creek Preserve in Webster, which is where we will start our caching PUZZLE. The posted coords are for this project and they are for reference only. Please know the cache is not at this location, because this location is too close to an existing cache to be a final or even a waypoint.

Thanks for your willingness to enjoy the outdoors and most importantly your willingness to have FUN.... enjoy. Just in case you can't find the final here is some help when you have internet access.

ONLY USE THE FORMAT OF: N 43 15.TED W 077 24.COB where the numbers you found are substituted for TED and COB (note stages are not in any order you must rearrange them into the order shown)

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
