Geocache Description:


Every year Santa is very busy overnight on Christmas Eve and early on Christmas Day flying around the world delivering presents to all the children. His route varies from year to year and is dependent on several factors including the weather, and he has never used the same route twice!

This year, news from the North Pole indicates his preferred route will take him over North West England at high speed at teatime on Christmas Eve, heading in an south easterly direction with presents for the children in the Far East, and will return to the UK in the middle of the night with gifts for UK children.

If the skies are clear, we may be able to see him approaching from the South-South-West just after 5:20pm, and disappearing in the South a minute later. Obviously, if there is poor weather he may be hidden by clouds, or could even alter his route for delivering all the presents.


This event will now last 60 minutes, starting at 4:30pm and ending at 5:30pm. Please ensure everyone, especially small children are well wrapped up so they stay warm. The chosen location is at a car park on the banks of the River Dee as it has an excellent view of the sky, but it is also exposed to the cold winter wind.

Fingers crossed for a clear sky and the chance to see Santa fly overhead.
