On Saturday, 28th November, 2015, Granett, Kyzabra, jinta29, AlliedOz and Krabiboy made a successful trip to find GC5GDXZ - TOP on HOP.
Along the way, there were many stories shared, tales told and adventures planned.
Once we got to the top, we all agreed it would be nice to have a few more caches along the trail up. So on the way back to the car, we each placed a cache.
These caches are not about the hunt, but the adventure. They have been placed to keep you on the "straight and narrow" and you will not find yourself venturing off course at all.
There is a detailed description of the path up on GC5GDXZ so I wont relist it all here. Please read that listing THOROUGHLY as well. There is a lot of good information and directions that should be adhered to.
Remember when attempting these caches, to be prepared. Take plenty of water and supplies. Its not for the faint hearted as it took us a 7 hour round trip and close to 18km walk.
There are two boot cleaning stations on the trip up. Please ensure you utilise them BOTH WAYS. (They are a good excuse for a break as there is a seat at each). After cleaning any mud or soil from your boots at the hygiene station, spray them thoroughly with a 70% methylated spirits : 30% water solution which should be carried with you in a small bottle.
Stick to the trails. Whilst some are quite overgrown, they are there and should be followed.
This cache is placed at the first boot cleaning station and is not quite half way on your trek to Mt Hopkins. It is a one litre sistema under a peppermint tree.
