This series of caches has been placed to Celebrate each Scout Jamboree held in Australia. It has been hidden to coincide with the 24th Australian Jamboree being held at Cataract Scout Campduring January of 2016. A Jamboree is a gathering of Scouts,Youth members of the Scout Association aged between11and 15 years. They are held every 3 years and run for around 10 nights. Approx 10,000 people attend. For many, it is the highlight of there Scouting Life.
This particular Jamboree was one that I had attended and remember it so well as a Cub Leader, but was delegated to working in the Scout Shop. We travelled from Moss Vale by train to Sydney , leaving at 8pm,where we were joined by the rest of the NSW Contingent and headed further north by train and picking up as we went. Often being put on the passing tracks as the regular trains went thru. It was a very hot and dusty time. But enjoyed by all as you joined in the Scouting Spirit. The site chosen was 200 hectares of bushlands about 10 klms west of Brisbane. More than 15,300 scouts attended from placesas 19 Asian and Pacific Countries, as well as all States of Australia.
