This series of caches has been placed to Celebrate each Scout Jamboree held in Australia. It has been hidden to coincide with the 24th Australian jamboree being held at Cateract Scout Camp during January 2016. A Jamboree is a gathering of Scouts, youth members of the Scout Association aged between 11 and 15 years of age. They are held every 3 years and run for around 10 nights. Approx 10,000people attend. For many it is the highlight of there Scouting Life.
Cateract Scout Park was given to the Scout Association of Australia NSW Branch by the Government of New South Wales in 1978. 103 Hectares of the Wedderburn State Forst to be a reserve for Scouts as a perminent Jamboree site. with additional 160 hectares given in 1985. Cateract Scout Park was dedicated to the Youth of Australia in May 11th 1985. This Jamboree (2016) will be the 4th to date and a World Jamboree (1987-1988).
The site is devided into 10 sub-camps each with its own facilities. The Camp is for Scouts, Guides, School Camps and Church Camps. As well a organized adventure activities there is plenty of bushwalking tracks in the surrounding area. Cateract Dam is only a 20minute walk from the park.
