They are often called Bride Trees because they produce large 'bouquets' of white blossoms in early summer. They are one of the last trees to leaf out in the Spring. My Mom used to have to collect caterpillars that frequented a Catalpa tree on the farm where she grew up, to sell as fishing bait.
