Geocache Description:

It is with great pleasure that I dedicate this nine cache series to my caching buddy manezinha. Manezinha epitomizes the best characteristics of a consummate Geocacher. She is honest, sharing and adventurous. She routinely replaces missing or damaged containers as well as log sheets and books that are wet, missing or full. She logs honest and helpful comments. She is a Team player when it comes to going after the “tough ones”.

We began our joint caching adventures on 9 June 2012 by finding Raha’s First Cache in Khalifa City A. It was her 1st and my 17th. Over three years and a half years later, we have cached together in 13 different countries collecting 911 caches together; several of them “extreme” adventures. This nine cache series represents our favorite cites.

Marrakesh is possibly the most important of Morocco's four former imperial cities (cities that were built by Moroccan Berber empires). The region has been inhabited by Berber farmers since Neolithic times, but the actual city was founded in 1062 by Abu Bakr ibn Umar, chieftain and cousin of Almoravid king Yusuf ibn Tashfin. In the 12th century, the Almoravids built many madrasas (Koranic schools) and mosques in Marrakesh that bear Andalusian influences. The red walls of the city, built by Ali ibn Yusuf in 1122–1123, and various buildings constructed in red sandstone during this period, have given the city the nickname of the "Red City" or "Ochre City". Marrakesh grew rapidly and established itself as a cultural, religious, and trading center for the Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africa; Jemaa el-Fnaa is the busiest square in Africa.

The cache is a small lock and lock container wrapped in a black/brown sock located NEAR a covered rest stop along the 117K Dubai Cycle Course located near the Bab Al Shams Resort and Spa. A copy of the bike route is provided, as well as a spoiler. A “Geocaching in the Arabian Peninsula” geocoin goes to the FTF.

The cache is accessible with a 2WD. PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE ON THE CYCLE TRACK and steer wide of cyclists
