Celebrity Buns sounds more like something out of a bad workout video, but in reality the description is quite accurate for something that you might find nearby...if one were to follow their nose and/or stomach.
In June, 1972, movie and television star Burt Reynolds was in a production called "The Rainmaker" at a local auditorium. In order to try to get Reynolds to come visit nearby, a family member wrote a letter and took it to his hotel.
A few nights later, Burt showed up and the staff wanted him to sign his name to something to commemorate the visit. By a strange coincidence, he chose to write his name on a hot dog bun.
This began a strange, yet wonderful tradition of celebrities, including presidential candidates, to autograph hot dog buns and have them enshrined on the walls of the establishment. Thus the tradition of "bun signing" began and continues to this day.
