Geocache Description:

A series of caches to recall memorable episodes of the SEINFELD TV show. The caches are placed in the vicinity of settings that were used or suggested in a particular episode, and hopefully will bring you to new areas in the Buffalo/Niagara region. The caches are not difficult – BYOP.

The Strike was the 166th episode in the series, and first aired in Dec. 1997. In this episode, George’s father introduces us to the celebration of Festivus – an alternative holiday to the commercialization of Christmas. It is celebrated on Dec. 23rd. The celebration begins with an unadorned aluminum pole. A Festivus dinner is part of the tradition during which celebrants participate in the “Airing of Grievances” – a time to vent about how others sitting at the table have disappointed you during the year. The celebration concludes after the “Feats of Strength” segment, during which the head of household is wrestled to the ground and pinned. During the episode, Kramer returns to work at H & H Bagel after being on strike for 12 years. After becoming enamored with the celebration of Festivus, he asks for Dec. 23rd off in order to celebrate. Alas, his request is denied – so he goes on strike yet again – hence the name of the episode. We are fortunate in that State & Local governments have erected many Festivus poles along our thoroughfares. To avoid controversy, they are disguised as poles holding up traffic lights. This cache is due South of one such Festivus pole. Parking is available on Dellwood Rd, at the intersection of Millersport & Sheridan. Feel free to include an “Airing of Grievances” towards your fellow geocachers in your log. Congrats to mr. pugilise on his FTF.
