Geocache Description:

Where: Holiday Inn at the posted coordinates

When: Monday February 1, 2016 6PM - 8PM

Note: due to Groundspeak's policy and geocaching guidline regarding the mentioning of commercial entities, the software that will be presented at this event will only be referred to as "a geocaching software" (hint: it's the one that most folks use or want to use, and it rhymes with BEE-SMACK).

For a third time, S*W*A*G has invited Scott Miller to present on a specific geocaching software at the S*W*A*G Yuma Mega-Event. Each year we have received very positive feedback to his presentations.

At the Mega Event on Sunday, he will:
·         Introduce this geocaching software as a database to track and manipulate geocaching data;
·         Show ways to filter and sort data in this geocaching software;
·         Show how to use this geocaching software to interact directly with geocaching.com to:
·         Precisely create Pocket Queries;
·         Update databases in minutes and acquire FAV points
·         Log your geocaches efficiently and INCLUDE useful notes in your logs
·         Provide pages of Step-by-Step Instructions of these skills so you can use them back home
At this event, after a short introduction of the above skills, he will delve into the most powerful tools in this geocaching software, macros. (All participants will receive the handouts from Sunday’s presentation) He will also introduce the FREE Garmin program, the one that rhymes with Face-cramp (sorry, again we can't say it due to Groundspeak's guidelines).

Attendees will learn how to use Macros to:
·         Determine if they qualify for many Challenge Caches;
·         Load Geocaches into vehicle GPS devices, such as Garmin and Tom Tom devices, BUT ALSO including those installed by the manufacturer into new vehicles
·         Many others that are yet to be determined.

Finally, Scott will introduce the attendees to some of the functions of the software that rhymes with Face-cramp, a free downloadable program from Garmin that works on both PCs and MAC based computers. It uses map data from the GPS to aid in the planning phase of the geocaching adventure AND uses tracking information to create elevation graphs and maps of your adventure.  When matched with the paid Birdseye Service, the results can be outstanding.

Please log “Will Attend” because seating will be limited.
