There is an Old and New Church on this site. Christ Angilican Church in Devonshire was built in 1642 and the newer church was erected on the same site in 1716. The old church has a painful past as it was virtually destroyed by fire on Easter Sunday Night in March 1970. Some historical artifacts and documents and a communion Table from c. 1624 and a silver chalice given in 1654 by the than Governor Roger Wood were saved. The old churh is still used for midnight services on Christmas Eve and by special request.
