Roosevelt Engine Company #3 was formed in 1954, along with Engine #1 on Cardinal Road and Engine #2 on Cream Street in Hyde Park, New York. The original location was located just a few hundred yards behind the new station and was built by the membership. Starting business in 1955, the 3 Roosevelt Companies created the Roosevelt Fire District which protects approximately half of the Town of Hyde Park.
The current building was paid for by the taxpayers and was opened in 2015. The members are proud of the building and appreciative to the overwhelming continued support of our community. This building will answer over 1,100 emergency calls annually.
For the past 60 years, the Company has maintained an all volunteer operation. The station also is home to the Roosevelt Rescue Squad, which provides medical response to the entire District. With over 50 active volunteers, this station is committed to the protection of several Hyde Park landmarks including the Culinary Institute of America, Haviland School, and Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill home. Notable alumni include Eleanor Roosevelt and several chefs and hospitality professionals in America’s top restaurants.
Please park in the visitor parking in the BACK of the firehouse. Do not park in the front or the side lot. Thank you!
