Geocache Description:

TASCOTT is a suburb on the Central Coast, within Gosford City.  The suburb, bordered by Point Clare and Koolewong, covers a mere 2.2km2. It's population of approximately 1700 live in less than half the area designated for the suburb, with the remaining space made up of Brisbane Water and Brisbane Water National Park.

1824 - Scott's land was identified as suitable for the township of Gosford, being the best ancourage in Brisbane Water and at the termination of the range, allowing road connection to Wollembi.

1829 - The Brisbane Water census shows there were 15 householders in the district (incl. 47 men and 42 bond servants).

Early 1830s - Thomas Alison Scott was compensated with 640 acres nearby. He named the land "Point Clare", and established modest sugar and tobacco plantations.

> 1880 - The addition of the railway line through the area brought a number of Bording Houses to the area, establishing the suburb as a holiday location.

~ Thomas Alison Scott married Mary Anne Crone. Together they had 5 sons and 7 daughters.  He was granted a life pension and remained at "Point Clare" until his death in 1881.

T.A. Scott is considered a pioneer of the sugar industry in Australia. The suburb in the vicinity of Scott's land now bears his name.

WP1:

  • Reduce the posted Southing by Scott's age at his death
  • E151 A.BCD

A = The Bus route number that passes by here, minus the sum of first name of the person who unveiled the plaque (replace each letter of his name with a number and add them together)

B = Number of words in the first 2 lines on the plaque

C = The plaque was unveiled 100 years and ? days after Scott's death

D = The difference between the number of letters in Scott's full name and that of his Grandson

WP2:

  • Thomas Alison Scott lays in rest nearby.  He lies with his son, who died at age X.  To his left you will see an interesting neighbour with another local name... Wyong Ridgeway died at age Y.  Add X and Y, then reduce your Southing by this number.
  • Another Scott family is buried here too. There are F family members listed together on that gravestone. Bruce would have been aged G in 1957. Reduce your Easting by F+G.

GZ:

As always, SEEK DISCREETLY, and REPLACE COMPLETELY

The cache is not big enough to hold TBs and most SWAG, however there is a small TOTT as a prize for the FTF 😀 ~ Cache On! 👣
