Geocache Description:

Have a week rest and enjoy the view of The Costa Del Calder. Small container with small swappable items.

This is the first geocache I have placed. It's called Meadowside because this area was once called that....a long, long time ago. The cache is beside the South Calder Water near Bowhousebog, Hartwood. which was originally housing for staff employed at nearby Hartwood Hospital. The South Calder at this point is interesting geographically due to the meanders and it changes every year as the banks here are sandy.  In the summer you can watch sand martins nest in the banks. This cache is accessed via a walkway. It is popular with dog walkers and can be accessed from Hartwood Road where there is limited parking. Great cache for doggies and children - can be mucky in the winter and unsuitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs - mountain bikes would be fine if you enjoy cycle cashing. To find the cache follow the path from the Bing for about a quarter of a mile. Look out for herons, deer, foxes and dippers. FTF gets a prize and there are swappables too. Best done in the summer as it's very pretty here and lush with meadowsweet. Happy caching!
