Podul de la Nănești are o caracteristică unică și o istorie interesantă.
În timpul celui de-al doilea război mondial, Wehrmacht-ul avea nevoie de un pod peste Siret, capabil să susțină traficul greu spre Frontul de Est. Datorită acestei necesități, germanii au construit la Nănești un pod lung de 355 metri. Podul nu doar permitea trecerea panzerelor, dar a și scurtat considerabil distanța dintre Focșani și Galați.
La sfărșitul lui august 1944, armata germană era în retragere. Pentru a-i încetini pe ruși, germanii au distrus căile de comunicații, însă la Nănești n-au reușit să arunce în aer decât un capăt al podului. Armata Roșie, având nevoie de un punct de trecere peste Siret, a reconstruit porțiunea distrusă.
Astfel, la limita dintre județele Galați și Vrancea există un pod unic: are două jumătăți distincte, construite de două armate străine, realizate în stiluri complet diferite. Podul a rămas deschis traficului până în prezent.

Nanesti Bridge has a unique feature and an interesting history.
During the Second World War, the Wehrmacht needed a bridge over Siret river, able to sustain heavy traffic to the Eastern Front. Because of this need, the Germans built in Nanesti a 355 meter long bridge. This bridge not only provided the panzers with a safe crossing, but has considerably shortened the distance between Focsani and Galati.
In late August 1944, the German army was retreating. To slow the Russians, the Germans destroyed the communications paths, but in Nanesti they managed to blow up only one end of the bridge. The Red Army, needing a way for crossing the Siret, rebuilt the damaged portion.
Thus, at the limit between Galati and Vrancea counties there is a unique bridge: it has two distinct halves, built by two foreign armies, made in completely different styles. The bridge remained open to traffic until present day.
