Geocache Description:

Midmar Game Reserve is a little known and infrequently visited area of amazing beauty on the south western banks of Midmar Dam.  It is some 1000ha in extent and is inhabited with herds of Zebra, Red Hartebeest, Black Wildebeest, Reedbuck, Blesbok and Oribi.  The bird life is amazing and Fish Eagles are a common sight and, at the right time of the year, thousands upon thousands of Barn Swallows.  A rarity seen by this CO is the Western Osprey (Pandion haliaetus)  Entrance is free and although a bit run down through lack of maintenance, there are picnic sites to enjoy a quiet moment. The gate is open between 07:00 and 17:00 seven days a week.
