The concept of geocaching is not necessarily an original idea (although, they do it the best in my opinion). Some prime examples of this game being used before come in the form of Letterboxing & Benchmark hunting, both of which have been around far longer; both of which have been included in the game of geocaching.
This cache is designed to encompass those previously used aspects, where a GPS device is not necessarily required. The lack of coordinates, substituted instead by the spelling out of directions and instructions, make for an interesting journey unto itself.
Some of the listed waypoints can, and should, be logged as well as this cache. The initial posted coordinates direct you to a fire hydrant, which is only being referenced as a physical starting point to locate the other waypoints. The instructions to find TOTEMS are as follows:
A:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel west along Front Street to the Diamond Knot Alehouse building, and then south along the east side of the building, to the southeast corner of the "Permit Parking Only" parking lot (almost underneath highway 525 bridge). You will find a telephone pole there with a sign reading "WSF Employee Parking Only". Set vertically on the pole, and attached to the pole via a nail, on the west facing side of the pole. About 6.5 feet higher than the parking lot.
To locate the value of A: At the location, you will find a small disk set into the pole (about the size of a quarter). On the disk, it reads the name of the company that set the disk and the date it was set. Use the last digit in the date as the value of A.
B:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel west along Front Street to the Mukilteo Lighthouse Building. 55 feet west of the northwest corner of the lighthouse building. 0.3 foot north of the east-west concrete wall. 0.3 foot east of the north-south concrete wall. Embedded in the top of the west end of the west concrete seawall. Partially obstructed by some bushes. About 0.5 foot higher than the surface of the lawn.
To locate the value of B: At the location, you will find a benchmark disk. In the center of that disk there is a single digit over a date. Use the single digit as the value of B.
Additionally: Loggable, and listed on the GeoCaching website, as Benchmark: SY0056.
C:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel west along Front Street to the Mukilteo Lighthouse Building. At the lighthouse, set vertically in the south facing side of the concrete foundation of the lighthouse building. 1.5 feet east of the southwest corner of the building. About 0.5 foot above the sidewalk.
To locate the value of C: At the location, you will find a benchmark disk. In the center of that disk there is a single digit over a date. Use the single digit as the value of C.
Additionally: Loggable, and listed on the GeoCaching website, as Benchmark: SY0055.
D:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel west along Front Street to the Mukilteo Lighthouse Building. 110 feet east-northeast of the northeast corner of the lighthouse building. In the top of the north concrete seawall. About 1 foot southwest of the northeast corner of the seawall. About 5 feet higher than the surface of the lawn.
To locate the value of D: At the location, you will find a benchmark disk. In the center of that disk there is a single digit over a date. Use the single digit as the value of D.
Additionally: Loggable, and listed on the GeoCaching website, as Benchmark: SY0054.
E & I:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel south along the west side of State Highway 525 to the bridge over the Burlington-Northern Railroad tracks. In the top of the west concrete sidewalk of the highway bridge. About 13 feet west of the center lanes of the highway. About 0.5 foot north of the south end of the sidewalk of the bridge. About 1 foot higher than the highway.
To locate the values of E & I: At the location, you will find a benchmark disk. In the center of that disk there is a letter P followed by three digits, over a date. Use the first of the three digits (following the letter P) as the value of E. Use the last of the three digits (following the letter P) as the value of I.
Additionally: Loggable, and listed on the GeoCaching website, as Benchmark: SY0053.
F & J: (use a crosswalk)
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel south along State Highway 525, and then east along 2nd Street, to the Arnies Restaurant parking lot, located south-southeast of the Arnies building, between 2nd Street & Lincoln Avenue. About 150 feet south-southeast of the Arnies front entrance. About 200 feet east of the totem pole along the east side of State Highway 525. Embedded in the surface of the south side of the parking lot, along the north side of Lincoln Avenue. Adjacent with the north-south running concrete curb of the east side of the Arnies side of the parking lot. About 1.5 feet south of the north concrete curb along Lincoln Avenue.
To locate the values of F & J: At the location, you will find a small disk set into the concrete (about the size of a quarter). On the disk, it reads the name of the company that set the disk, the letters L S followed by five digits. Use the first digit as the value of F. Use the third digit as the value of J.
G:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel east along Front Street to the intersection of Park Avenue (about 530 feet). At the southeast corner of Front & Park, is an abnormally short telephone pole, standing only about 10 feet tall. About 5 feet east of the stop sign at the same corner of the intersection. Set vertically on the pole, on the west facing side of the pole. About 8 feet higher than the street.
To locate the value of G: At the location, attached to the pole, you will find two letters and three numbers. Add the three numbers together and use the summation as the value of G.
H:
To locate the totem: From the posted coordinates, travel east along Front Street, and then south along Park Avenue, and then east along 1st Street, to the roundabout at the Mukilteo Sound Transit Station. On the southeast side of the roundabout. About 6.5 feet southeast of the southeast side of the roundabout. About 18 feet north of the east side of the stone canoe. Embedded in the sidewalk. About 0.8 foot above the road.
To locate the value of H: At the location, you will find a small disk set into the concrete sidewalk (about the size of a quarter). On the disk, it reads the letter M followed by a single digit. Add the digit to the summation of the previously found value of G, use the new summation as the value of H.
Final:
Once all totems have been located, and each required value notated, rearrange the values in the following order to obtain the modified coordinates:

At the location, you will find a set of six totems. From the totems, walk south to the bottom of the stairwell. About 1 foot higher than the ground you will find the container. However, to gain access to the container you will need to, again, rearrange the values in the following order:

Additionally: Those that attempt to access the container without the required values will become a totem themselves, and forever guard the container.
