In 1985 I was a student here at USI when one of the greatest tragedies in the history of the school befell a group of students here. They went into these woods in search of the Slender Man and were never seen or heard from again. The night they went missing, I got a phone call that saved my life. Work called and needed me to come in because somebody went home sick. I was supposed to be with my friends that night and if it weren’t for that phone call from work, I would know the mystery of their disappearance but alas, would not be writing this to you today.
My friends and I had been researching evidence that the Slender Man resided in these woods. What we knew about him is that he is very tall and thin with unnaturally long arms. He wears a black suit and tie and his face is white and featureless. Proximity to the Slender Man is often said to trigger a "Slender Sickness"; a rapid onset of paranoia, nightmares and delusions accompanied by nosebleeds. He usually targets children or young adults and it is said that investigating the Slender Man will draw his attention.
On December 21st, 1985 my friends went in the woods and were never seen or heard from again. They carried with them only a voice recorder and log book because it is said that the Slender Man could interfere with audio recordings. Having this information on tape, would prove their theory of his existence. The only thing that was ever found was the tape recorder and log book.
This is what is heard on the voice recorder:
Aaron began to speak "Is there anyone with us tonight?" Nothing filled the silence except a slight “Static” sound from somewhere behind the trees.
"Can you tell us your name?" Again, the only sound was a “Static” sound.
"Can you show yourself?" As before, just a “Static” sound from behind the trees.
"Are you afraid of us?" asked Aaron. This time, the static got louder and louder. Suddenly there were blood curdling screams and the sound of the recorder being dropped. Then nothing but silence. Not even the rustling of leaves.
The next morning a hiker found the voice recorder laying on the ground. He turned it on, and in the silence that followed each of Aaron's questions, you could now hear the following replies spoken softly by a deep and menacing voice.
"Yes...I am always here."
"My name is never spoken by your kind, but it is very old."
"I'll show myself, but it is the last thing you'll ever see..."
"You are mine!"
The hiker quietly pocketed the evidence, looking around to assure himself he was truly alone and took what he had to the Dean of Students. The Dean decided to cover up the disappearance for fear that it would hinder future students from attending the school. He took the only evidence of that night and hid it here in the woods. It can only be found at night. He marked trees leading to the location of the box containing the evidence. But, he marked 3 paths. A white, red and orange path and only he knew which path was correct. The Dean went missing shortly after hiding the evidence.
I urge you, do NOT hunt for this box of evidence! I have seen what happens when people search out the Slender Man! I do NOT want to be responsible for what you might see and hear while searching for it! The students here know that if you enter the woods, you may never return.
If you choose to ignore my warning, go to the marked coordinates and you will find a bench where I last saw my friends and took the above picture.
Their identities remain a secret to respect the wishes of the families. Behind the bench is a tree marked with 3 reflectors which can only be seen at night, and with a bright flashlight. Go to that tree and look for another tree with 3 reflectors. Follow the reflectors deep into the woods. They will eventually branch off to 3 distinct paths. Choose your path wisely. The longer you are in the woods, the easier it will be for the Slender Man to find you. The decoy paths will end in an X. The correct path will end with the symbol of the Slender Man. Which looks something like this.
You will find the hidden box of evidence when you find this symbol. I also urge you to mark frequent waypoints as you enter the woods to be able to get yourself out. The Slender Man has been known to disorient his victims and lure them deep into the woods before capture.
