Geocache Description:

This cache is placed on Cow Lane, a footpath that forms part of the Gristone Trail as it passes through Rainow.

Rainow lies in the foothills of the Pennines straddling the Cheshire boundary of the Peak District National Park. The village gets its name from the Old English Hraefn Hoe meaning Ravens' Hill. It is home to around 2500 people. It is a great place to live and to visit. You can find out more about the history and geography of Rainow through the link below.

http://www.rainow.org/

Rainow is great walking country and if geocaching in the area you would almost certainly benefit from the use of the Rainow Parish Paths map that can be bought very cheaply from a number of sources including the local pub, the Robin Hood Inn.

This area is well served by geocaches and this cache along with five others (On the way to Callybrook, Hough Hole. Sugar Lane, Tower Hill and Millenium),  that I have put in place is an attempt to fill some of the few gaps in the area. The six caches make a pleasant circular walk of around 1.5 miles. Alternively this cache can be combined with any number of other caches in Rainow to create your own purpose built geocaching walk.

If doing the 6 caches in this series the best option for parking is probably Round Meadow, but avoid at school opening and closing times.

Note the cache is NOT hidden in a dry stone wall. The cache container is large enough for (very) small toys and TBs. I have left a couple of toys and a TB in it for starters.
