The southern tip of MacKenzie Lake is just within the boundary of Thetis Lake Park. Your entry to this site is by trail located near Prior Lake.
The trail to MacKenzie Lake begins at the end of a bridge crossing MacKenzie Creek near Prior Lake. The trail is well travelled and easily followed though it advised to do so during the dry season. One will encountered many places where small wooden stumps have been place on the path to aid people to walk on where the trail is under water, The trail winds snake-like through the forest in a more-or-less northly direction. In about an half-hour the average walker should just about sight the lake. Stronger walkers would take less time but whatever time one does take; it will seem longer. Going back to the parking lot will take about the same time but it wll seem short. If you like walking through forests and seeing nothing but trees, the odd snake and possibly a dragon-fly, you will enjoy this walk.
Watch for a sign post bearing the name 'SEABORN TRAIL'. Turn right and follow the unmarked trail. It will, eventually bring you into sight of Rock Lake. Somewhere along this trail a path leads to Rock Lake but never will it lead you to the lake itself. Privat homes litter the other side of MacKenzie Lake but you will never find yourselve near the lake, The coordinates are reasonably close and the cache is very close to where the trail unfortunately ends.
