Plettenberg Bay is one of the most beautiful places anywhere to us and we wanted to share part of it with our fellow Geocachers. Please feel welcome to add great pictures of the views
The cache background is that it is placed near the mouth of the river on the rocks at the Beacon Isle Island at the end of the Robberg Beach Stretch. The river is awesome for swimming.
Access to the cache can be obtained in a number of ways. The simplest is to walk down the steps on the side of the foot bridge that crosses the river and to walk around at LOW TIDE unless you want to swim. Once you have walked far enough around you arrive at a private beach. Keep going you nearly there. You are allowed to be there as it is beyond the hotel grounds.
You will notice the coordinates are slightly out. Once at the coordinates you will see a set of stairs. When facing the stairs to the right directly in the corner are two large stones. If you remove the back stone you can gain access to a cavity very low. There are numerous stones jammed in the corner down very low.
Please make sure BOTH lids are very well tightened.
When returning PLEASE make sure the flat stone on the LEFT of the cavity is still jammed in so that the waves dont let the cache pop out the back of the cavity. Then placing the cache at the back please jam the rest of the small stones in so it is properly secure. Finally the large stone on the sand helps keep the stones in the cavity.
