Not Lost, Just Wandering
For the hobby (addiction) of geocaching to continue and work well, geocachers - hiders and finders - are dependent on one other. Naturally people have to hide caches or no-one would have any to find, and on the other hand if no-one wanted to find them, there would be no point hiding any!
The quote ‘not all who wander are lost’ seems to have become a catchphrase for geocachers. We have done a lot of wandering over the last few years but have never been seriously lost (yet!).
Last year (2015) we had an interesting experience when searching for a local cache on a very wet day. We found a well-camouflaged container - but it wasn’t the one we’d set out to find, so elation was followed by confusion! We discovered it belonged to a local cacher who is known for well-crafted creative hides; they had hidden this one some time before but it was never published, and they had then lost track of it as the surrounding vegetation grew.
We have rescued this long-lost and forgotten cache container, and with the original creator’s permission we are giving it another chance. The cacher concerned will remain secret unless they choose to reveal themselves, but this is to acknowledge them and all the others who have placed caches that we have enjoyed finding. Thanks!!!
In 2021 the cache camo went missing, so we have replaced the cache with a small screw-top container.
There are likely to be people fishing off the rocks near GZ and others using the track, so please be stealthy and ensure you are not seen retrieving or replacing the cache.
The cache only contains a log sheet. Please bring your own pen.
PLEASE NOTE: You MUST sign the physical log as proof you found the cache, to be able to claim a find online. We reserve the right to delete online logs if this procedure is not followed.
FIRST TO FIND: davies56. Congratulations!
