Geocache Description:

You are looking for a micro sized cache container no room for a pen so please remember to bring one!

This Place of Worship was founded in 1897, and it is still open.

This chapel was founded by Henry Dauncey, in memory of his wife Elizabeth, who died in Wotton whilst they were on holiday. They lived just outside Manchester, but they had relatives in the area and had come to Wotton to visit them. Elizabeth died "whilst taking tea at the Ebenezer Methodist Church Sunday School". Henry was heartbroken, and founded the chapel in her memory.

The accompanying photograph was taken in 2004, when it was known as the Methodist and United Reformed Church, following the merger with Congregationalists from Wotton under Edge Tabernacle, in 1970. The congregation has since been joined by the Independents from the Old Town Meeting Hall, in and its current (2010) dedication is "Wotton United Church".
