Around 1995 the earthen ramp leading from the park up to the church was removed. The ramp was located by the western end of the tennis courts. This ramp was used to haul stone quarried in the river bend (where the current pool is located). The quarry then served as the old swimming hole for many years.
The east side of the pool was around 3-4 feet deep, with a sandy bottom. The west (or deep end) was where they had stopped cutting stone, and was demarcated by a ledge where the bottom dropped to around ten feet. There was an old wood diving tower located here.
