À partir du moyen-âge, le troll apparait comme une créature surnaturelle des légendes et croyances scandinaves. Peu amical ou dangereux pour l'homme, le troll reste lié aux forces naturelles étrangères à la civilisation humaine.
Etant donné que les trolls sont très farouches et qu’ils n’existent pas il est très difficile d’en rencontrer.
Néanmoins parfois on peut retrouver dans un nid de troll des restes de ces beuveries nocturnes.

Vermits trollen zeer schichtig zijn is het zeldzaam dat men ze ziet. Soms kan men in zijn nest de resten van zijn nachtelijke uitspattingen vinden.
