Geocache Description:

NOTE: (TOTT) May need tool to get paper out. (BYOP) Bring Your Own Pen.

You are currently on the 'new' bridge, as I think of it.  The old bridge, built in 1908, was located below the dam that you can see to the east. It was a narrow, rickety old thing when I was young.  It was about 5 feet off the surface of the water, and rattled with any traffic.  Busses, and I believe trucks, were not allowed to cross it because it was too narrow.

If my family was crossing to Kimberly to visit one of my uncles, I would ask which bridge we were going across.  If it was this one, I did not want to go!

When this 'new' two lane bridge opened in the mid 1950's, my aunt and her college friends invited me to the opening day walk across.

Sometime in the late 1980's (?) the bridge was expanded to four lanes.
