Hej DavyNic!

Geocache Description:

Even the smallest of places deserve their very own cache!

This is another cache in the series at smaller villages and settlements around Piteå.

The name Kilberg comes from the many fresh water springs at the nearby berg.

The first house, Kilberg 1, is believed to be built by Nasafjäll(silver corp). The first settler here was Per Studsare some time around 1760. He was a soldier originally from Lillpite. He lived here with his wife Brita until his death in 1802 at 64. Brita died 7 years later at 66.

On 30 September 1869 at Kilberg 2, 11 yrs old Brita Carolina Burman was killed by accident by her brother with their fathers, Johan Burman, rifle.

While Johan Burman was in Roknäs getting supplies, his sons Johan August(17) and Carl Oskar(15) "borowed" their fathers rifle off the wall. Carl Oscar brought the rifle outside to shoot it at the river, but the fireing cap malfunctioned. He brought it inside for Johan August to reload. When JA got the rifle he sat down on the bed with the barrel pointing into the room. Just as he replaced the fireing cap, the hammer went off and set off the round. The bullet hit their sister while she was getting porrigde off the stove.

The cort fined the father 50 'Riksdaler' for allowing the children to have access to the rifle and ammunition. The boys were not charged.(Source: Byarna och torpen övanför Lillpite by Rune Bergman)
