Geocache Description:

This geocache has been placed on Boxing Day, in south Moorhead and with permission.

Happy Boxing Day!

This geocache was placed and submitted on Boxing Day. What is Boxing Day? It is a holiday that is not well known in the United States. Canadians ~ Is the day better know in your part of North America?

As a kid my folks told me that Boxing Day was a day off for servents in Great Britain, who had to work on Christmas Day, to spend time with their families and celebrate Christmas. A quick on-line search came up with stories about Boxes for collecting alms for the poor, sailing ships putting money in a lock box that was given to a priest once a year for luck and a ‘Christmas Box’ in Britain is a name for a Christmas present.

Where ever the tradition means and however it came into being; this is the first in a series of caches placed on some lesser known holidays. At least, not well known around here.

Happy Boxing Day! And remember, no jabs, crosses, hooks or uppercuts.
