Coombe: a short valley or deep hollow, especially in chalk areas - HE204
There are some lovely footpaths and bridleways in and around Hawkinge. This series of caches is set along a short circular walk, just under 1½ miles (2.2k), using public rights of way Bridleway HE126 (Blue Marker), Footpath HE204 and Footpath HE207 (Yellow Markers). They pass through local farmland and wooded areas. There are some stiles to climb. The terrain is undulating and can be muddy and slippery in places. There are some lovely views to enjoy. WARNING: Part of the walk is along the side of the busy Alkham Valley Road. Please make sure you can be clearly seen and keep on the grass verge because the on-coming traffic will be fast. Please keep dogs on leads when passing through livestock. For those who like to get numbers I have added a Church Micro in Hawkinge. There is also an existing cache (not mine) to pick up on the way at Coombe Farm in the Alkham Valley Road. Please would you ensure all caches are carefully replaced, out of view of passing muggles. You will need to bring your own pen and extracting tools (a safety pin always comes in handy). There is plenty of free roadside parking in Hawkinge Village but avoid school drop off and pick up times. There is a frequent Hawkinge/Canterbury bus service 16 and local Hawkinge/Folkestone bus service 73 Happy New Year and happy caching!
You are looking for a clip box in a comouflaged bag with room for trackables and swaps - please do not take anything unless you are prepared to swap fairly.
