Vi trovate adesso nei pressi della pineta dei Tufi e dell'omonima spiaggia. Da qua potete ammirare il golfo di Calamoresca con Punta Falcone e lo scoglio omonimo, hiding point di una cache ad esso dedicata.
You are now near the Tufi Pine Wood and the beach carrying the same name. From here you can enjoy the view on Calamoresca gulf, Falcone Park and its little island, the hiding place of a challenging cache.
LA PINETA DEI TUFI
Andando da #15 a #16 la via dei Cavalleggeri attraversa un ambiente occupato sia a monte che a valle da una delle poche pinete presenti sul Promontorio di Piombino, la Pineta dei Tufi.
Le pinete sul promontorio sono poche ( Baratti, I Tufi e monte Santa Maria ) e poco estese, ma comunque frequentate da animali caratteristici di questi ambienti come gli uccelli fringuellidi ad esempio il verdone, il verzellino ed il fringuello.
Il cuculo la frequenta in estate perché è ghiotto di bruchi di processionaria del pino.
Tra i mammiferi, il ratto alessandrino si arrampica agilmente sui pini per rosicchiare le pigne e per costruire dei grandi nidi globosi.
Munitevi di un paio di guanti per una ricerca più sicura del cache !
Evitate di attirare l'attenzione di eventuali babbani durante la vostra azione di ricerca del cache onde evitare fastidiose manomissioni.
THE TUFI PINE WOOD
Going from #15 to #16, via dei Cavalleggeri crosses an area characterized by the presence of one of the few pine woods of the Promontory, the Tufi Pine Wood.
There are not many pine woods on the promontory ( Baratti, I tufi and Monte Santa Maria ) and they are not that large. Nevertheless they are frequented by animals that are characteristic of these habitats, e.g. members of the Fringillidae birds family : the greenfinch, the serin and the chaffinch.
The cuckoo frequents this kind of habitat during the summer period to feed on the pine processionary caterpillar.
Mammals include the black rat which nimbly climbs up the pine trees to gnaw on pine cones and to build its large globular nests.
Wear your gloves while looking for the cache!
Please make sure nobody is seeing you while looking for the cache in order to prevent muggles from sabotaging it !
