Cache History
Almost exactly a year ago I placed one of my first caches to draw cachers to see the "South Anchorage DMZ (GC5JNAM)"
Most public pathways in Anchorage are pretty and inviting. This is not one of them. Ground Zero looks as if the Cold War left this neighborhood with a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) pathway between warring neighborhoods. Lots of old rusted fencing and barbed wire make the area not a good place for kids or pets. Whatever the history of this pathway might be, today nothing around looks like it needs such protection.
Over the summer of 2015 the barbed wire was bulldozed and the cache destroyed (it was behind one of the barbed wire braces without any barbed wire). Today the area looks much more friendly, but still far from the friendliest street in town. So let's rename it the "South Anchorage Neutral Zone" and see how the neighbors get along in the next few years. Note the same large spruce tree in both pictures.
Enjoy the hunt.
Congratulations to Karma! for a FTDNF the Missing Cache in October 2016.
