Geocache Description:

This is a replacement for part of the Shandaken Geocache Challenge series. Buried within the description you will find a bit of local history and perhaps a clue. Be sure to look for all in the series: Allaben - Big Indian - Bushnellsville - Chichester - Highmount - Mt Pleasant - Mt Tremper - Oliverea - Phoenicia - Pine Hill - Shandaken. Enjoy!

Bushnellsville
Bushnellsville on Route 42 was named for the Bushnell family, who settled the valley in the mid-1800’s. By the early 1900’s, there were many farms in the area; most families kept at least one cow and many shipped apples and sold maple syrup. At that time, the hamlet had its own Post Office, several general stores, a cider mill, ice houses and even a bowling alley. Supplies were delivered from Phoenicia once a week by horse and wagon.

OK - in order to get a good hide we had to go a little past the Shandaken Town line, but it is still Bushnellsville!

Please park on the side road and do not stop on Route 42.

The cache is a pre-form soda bottle.  The GPS was only able to get about a 30' accuracy rating, so if you get better coordinates, please let us know. However, the spot should be fairly obvious to a geocacher.
